Iomega StorCenter Remote Access FAQ
QUESTION: Can I run more than one Storcenter on the same network and have access to both?
ANSWER: NO, you can only access one of the StorCenter devices remotely since the port cannot be changed on the StorCenter Enable Remote access on the one StorCenter you wish to access
QUESTION: I'm having trouble getting remote access to my StorCenter, how can I get this working?
ANSWER: First thing, check domain, expiration date, make sure all is in order in the remote access main screen that shows expiration, etc If all is OK, it's most likely a UPnP issue (your router doesn't have UPnP, its Disabled or possibly not fully UPnP compliant) or you have a multi-NAT scenario where there is more than one router such as a vonage router or VOIP router or other firewall in front of your StorCenter device
QUESTION: What ports do I need to open in my router If my router doesn't support UPnP?
ANSWER: TCP Port 443 (HTTPS) should be opened and pointed to the static LAN IP of your StorCenter
QUESTION: Can I use my Iomega Domain Name to connect to other devices and servers on the same network?
ANSWER: Yes, the domain name provided by TZO in your StorCenter can be used to connect to other hardware/services you may have on your home network. These include activities or services such as remote desktop, running a web server and other possibilities. In order to do this, you need to setup your own hardware for a webserver, remote desktop or other device and then simply forward your ports in your to the device. When connecting, do NOT use the WWW in your domain, for example, use Domain.MyIomega.com in your application. This will make a direct connection to your home network and the router can forward the ports from there.
QUESTION: When I try my domain name to connect to my StorCenter, I get the login screen for my router, what's going on?
ANSWER: This is an issue called LOOPBACK and it's common on many routers. If the domain name does not work when you are on the same network as the StorCenter device, try the internal IP address of the Storcenter device. If this works, then use the internal IP when on the same network, and when you are away, you can use the domain name.
QUESTION: I purchased the Premium domain name service from TZO and also ordered an SSL Certificate. When I go to the Iomega StorCenter device, I see the domain name I ordered but I am still getting SSL Warnings.
ANSWER: You first need to make sure that you have received the email from Comodo and approved the SSL Certificate. Once you do this, you then need to reboot your Iomega StorCenter device. Click on the DASHBOARD tab, then click the RESTART button. The SSL Certificate will then be delivered once the device is restarted. If you've registered the domain name with TZO, we get the email and approve it for you. This may take up to 48 hours to approve this SSL certificate, please wait at least 1 BUSINESS day before contacting TZO support if your SSL request is not approved.
QUESTION: I have WHOIS Privacy for my domain name and I am not receiving the SSL Certificate approval email from Comodo. Why is that?
ANSWER: Since you have WHOIS privacy on your domain name, the emails being generated by Comodo are being prevented from getting to you. To correct this problem, you will need to contact TZO and have them disable the WHOIS privacy on your domain name temporarily. After TZO has disabled the WHOIS privacy on your domain name, you will need to contact Comodo again and have them resend the verification email. This time the email will come through and you will be able to receive it. Once you have done so, contact TZO and have them re-enable the WHOIS privacy for you.
